Kingdom of Heaven is fairly dark with mostly one or no light source. The colurs are also a bit muted and tend to be blue. The Patriot on the other hand is bright, colourful and the main light source is the sun. So actually The Patriot is in advantage, cause it looks more solid an real. Also the sharpness and the colour are more natural. But Kingdom of Heaven is a perfect example of mastering and reproducing black levels. So both are top notch in picture and sound and must haves, so get em both.
That is the movie maker's intention on the Kingdom of Heaven. The colors aren't muted, it's more "matured", well refined and epic-like in terms of visuals. With a tiny bit of blue tint makes this a perfect movie. It is very film-like. THAT is why I like it. It's like a portfolio artwork of film. Extremely professional and paid attention to detail in the movie set. It has been proven by so many people who saw it in BD and they all got impressed. No wonder it's still in the expensive side when you go to the store and look at the price taggie.....
