congrats i have the same tv

break in is not required but highly receommended. i would do it for 100 - 150 hours. i done 150 hours go here and check out the thread on it

also component will be fine for HD content seeing as all cable and satellite shows are only broadcast in 1080i and not 1080p and of course no loss less audio, so if there are known issues with HDMI stick with component
