I had a problem like this too. The first time I connected with HDMI I thought I fked up because the screen didn't display for like a minute. Just give it a minute or so and wait. If not, try to hold the power for 5 seconds to turn it on, then wait about a minute, and the screen should come up. Don't worry, your setup is probably fine, it just takes longer than standard hook ups.
