There is a better, more flexible way of getting screen captures:
- Command (the "Apple" key) + shift + 3 = full screenshot.
- Command (the "Apple" key) + shift + 4 = user-definable screenshot.
The first way is good if you want a quickie screen of your entire desktop. The second way is good if you want to get just a portion of your desktop, as a crosshairs pops up after you press all those keys, after which time you can select the portion of the screen you want to capture after you start your mouse-click.
