I can understand where you're coming from, it can be a bit slow paced and yes in this day and age the controversial stuff is virtually moot. But christ almighty it's a beautiful movie to look at. Much like 2001 it's one of the those "Experiance" movies where you just let it flow over you and enjoy the visuals. Just watch it on the biggest screen and the highest res you can find.

- I have not seen Taxi Driver ever. And I don't know that I particularly want to.
Same, i just have no interest in it

- I find most new horror movies god awful and a waste of time, I find most horror movies from the '80s also god awful and a waste of time, and to me, horror may be one of the 3 worst genres in movie
Same, the only horror movies i like are Comedy/Horror, they're a lot of fun. Apart from that the only horror movie worth any salt is The Thing, which is a masterpiece franky

- I prefer T2: Judgement Day and Terminator Genysis to The Terminator and I actually do not like The Terminator.
Same, T2 was vastly superior and all the sequels are more entertaining. But you have to give the original credit for kick starting it all

- I have not seen any of the Rambos and don't ever intend to.
Give the first one a go, it's a heck of a lot different to what i was expecting, it's not a mindless action movie, it's actually quite touching. The sequels are pure action trash thou and what you expected them to be

- I generally don't like a lot of the Oscar-nominated movies.
Same, most of them are self-indulgent bore fests (some are worthy thou)

- Brokeback Mountain is in my top 5 worst movies ever.
I have no interest in ever seeing this. But it looks awful

Now my contributions to classic movies i recently watched, The French Connection is complete trash. The narrative is a complete and utter mess and if i had to read the wiki page to understand what hell was going on in the first half of the movie then it's failed as a movie.

The Maltese Falcon was OK at best, not sure why it was so overrated and it just seems your average movie of the time and Humphrey Bogart hammed it up with terrible acting.

On the bright side saw The Third Man which i enjoyed quite a lot
