My girlfriend has never been to a live concert and would love to see a band like The Eagles or Springsteen or any of the numerous other major acts. In the past year I have tried several times to get tickets from Ticketmaster, to no avail. The best-to-medium seats are always sold out minutes after they become available and you have no choice but to locate tickets elsewhere at a further premium.
This whole concert-ticket availability thing is getting worse and something needs to be done about it. The artists need to step up to the plate (like Springsteen is doing) and demand that changes are implemented which allow the general public (their fans) fair access.
In my youth (60's-70's) I never had any problem getting tickets to see bands like Pink Floyd, Ten Years After, Santana, Sly & The Family Stone, Eric Clapton, Genesis, Three Dog Night, James Brown, Black Sabbath, etc. and it was a joy to experience them live. I feel sorry for today's fan who doesn't have that easy access.
Our legislators (both here in Canada and the U.S.) need to get involved, because it is a joke the way Ticketmaster is going about their business.
