In the movie, you’re watching his excellent acting, which is technically “masking” his “ok” singing. Yet when the song is on the radio while you’re in the car or at work, it’s more noticeable that he’s not a singer (I’m aware that he took vocal lessons for four months. This isn’t a diss. Just an observation).
That's why the cinema is god! I still love listening to soundtracks and songs from films, but nothing beats the full experience.
