Default Receiver Questions

What is a top of the line receiver for a living room 20 x 20 running 5.1 surround sound. I want the best of the best.

Also, right now I have a Sony BDP 300, if I keep it and get the new receiver will I have true HD sound or will I have to a new Sony 550 BDP.

Right now I have a Hardan/Kardan 247 receiver.

OK, I have looked at the Onkyo's A/V Receivers
