I completely disagree. I'd like to think I speak for the large majority of people who waited this long when I say - I waited because I didn't want to end up with the obsolete player (HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray). Once the winner was clear & rental media was available (I'm a 98% renter/2% buyer), the only thing left was to convince the wife.

Social psychology? Nope. 'Sanding out in the crowd' had jack to do with it. Fear of ending up with this generation's Betamax had everything to do with it.
