When the Director's Cut - the version considered to be the definitive one - was made, it was something akin to an EE of LOTR, with added footage and improved digital VFX and audio to make it worthy of screening in a cinema and releasing on DVD. All of that would have to be re-done for a UHD-BD release of the Director's Cut. Then you've also got the "Uncut Edition", basically the TV mini-series edit, which people might also want to see on UHD-BD and that's nearly 300 minutes. I think it's possible that we might get a new DC restoration, but if it's happening, it's under the radar at the moment.

Thanks, I really hope they invest in this movie and specially the DC cut. It won a lot of awards, and brought some attention to the German film industry.
