I thought i'd share some observations about the UK (BBC) vs the US (HBO & Amazon Prime) version of Gentleman Jack. These are mainly technical observations.
The US version has been slowed down to 24p for obvious reasons.
The incidental & theme music in the US version have been slowed down to match the slower frame-rate, but pitch corrected to maintain the same pitch of the BBC version.
The voices & SFX in the US version have been slowed down but haven't been pitch corrected, oddly. (It's worth noting that both versions were broadcast with a 5.1 audio mix, with the voices in the Centre channel and the music in the L&R channels)
The HBO & BBC logos in the ending title card have been swapped around, so that the HBO logo comes first in the US version
The US version has a generally tighter edit, with certain shots lingering for less, and the occasional minor line of dialogue skipped. Here is an example from the BBC version of episode 6:
Quote:
JEREMY LISTER: She fell off a wall.
JEREMIAH RAWSON: Oh, I’m sorry.
ANNE LISTER: Mm. So anyway -
JEREMIAH RAWSON: What were you doing on a wall?
ANNE LISTER (brandishing his note at him): You wanted to discuss the terms of the lease with me. Again.

The lines in bold have been cut out of the US version. As a result of the edit, certain music cues have been re-positioned slightly.
