Optical and coaxial digital audio tends to carry a better audio signals than analog. The originating source is digital, so there is no need to make any change there.

A significant boost in audio quality can be had if you upgrade those speakers as the Bose cubs are completely incapable of actually reproducing certain mid range and low-end notes at all. So, you truly are missing part of the audio spectrum that is available to you.

Bose is about 99.9% marketing hype - and very, very low on quality. This is especially noticably when people make the upgrade from their speakers to something different.
