That's kinda strange.. I noticed their DLP projectors are rather overpriced for their features too. Likely Marantz just realizes that those products target a niche market of enthusiasts willing to spend extra for their brand and, selling relatively few of them, decided to get a better return on their manufacturing costs.
Fortunately their receiver prices seem to have stayed the same. I'd hate to see quality receivers priced out of most budding audiophiles' budgets.
Looks like you lucked out with your timing though, for sure.
