I find it very interesting because there are definitely a lot of people like him out there that will ask themselves the same question. Logic (and the comments from the Insiders) tells us that the basic movie functions on the upcoming discs should work flawlessly on pre-1.1 players... but then again, we're not the ones who need convincing...

The BDA cannot speak for the individual hardware companies. Companies can do dumb things and cause confusion, but forums like this help to clear up problems quickly.
