Okay...

So you can either

A) Watch the film in interlaced video (PAL to NTSC) on DVD with proper burned-in English subtitles for just the French portions.

or

B) Watch the film in 1080/24 on BD with subtitles for all the sound and dialogue in the movie.

Personally, First Look should have better BD production quality since the disc could easily accomodate another subtitle stream just for the French dialogue. I suspsct that First Look struck a new transfer for the 1080/24 and simply tossed in the same subtitles from the DVD without a thought.

As for the PAL to NTSC issue, that would explain the burned-in English subtitles for the French dialogue. Still I would rather take this over having my screen filled with subtitles for "indiscriminate dialogue," "car honking," etc.

But hey, I'm not a professional reviewer just a movie buff who would like his movies presented properly. Guess that will never happen with this film.
