Anyone else finding this format war kind of entertaining?
I know, I know...it's sucks not to be able to buy ALL the movies you want in high def. But is anyone running out of Blu-Ray movies to watch? I only own two movies, and rent about six per week (since I work at a Blockbuster that carries BD's, it's free!) and I'm not missing Universal that much. Is it THAT big of a deal that I have to watch King Kong upscaled instead of in true 1080p? Not really.
I've been enthralled in this war since early March when I got my HDTV, and I've gotten mad several times. But it's also really interesting to hear how the players (studios, execs, media figures, retailers, directors too now) are battling this war. Despite how inconvenient it is to us consumers, I get the same feeling that I did watching the 2000 presidential election. Even if your side doesn't win, at least it will have been a fun time watching it untangle.
But maybe that's just me...
Anyone else let go of their format war anger recently?
