Default Sound Connections

If you have HDMI and an A/V receiver that will accept audio over HDMI and pass video through and your TV has an HDMI or DVI connection on the back. Connect one HDMI from PS3 to receiver (into the input labeled dvd or tv or whatever) then connect one HDMI from the HDMI output on the receiver to the HDMI input on the TV. On PS3 under audio options-->HDMI-->select automatic (make sure receiver is on) and PS3 will auto detect your receiver's audio capabilities and then it will display all the sample rates and channel configs in the next screen---> hit x to accept. That's it for audio on the PS3. Just make sure your receiver is set up to detect incoming audio over HDMI on whatever HDMI input (dvd, tv, ect) you connected the PS3 to. One more thing, under BD/DVD settings-->audio (HDMI)--->select linear PCM, not bitstream. The PS3 is currently not capable of passing native Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD bitstreams. This linear PCM setting is good for any movies encoded in uncompressed PCM, Dobly Digital, DTS (legacy), or Dolby TrueHD. For DTS-HD master you are out of luck since PS3 does not support this codec in ANY way. Good Luck
