I know they are different things entirely, but would anyone else just rather have the 120hz off(or on standard) on their set and set 24p on on their players?

I think this yields the perfect PQ without the distracting "ghosting" that I see in EVERY 120hz set when this setting is jacked up.

I am with you. I also do not like the 120hz feature because like you I feel it ruins the quality of the movie itself. I also feel its not worth the extra cash for what I call an extra novelty or feature. I have my Blu Ray player set to 24p and the film quality is excellent and my tv is only 60hz not the 120hz that so many others want and have. That all being said I know the Sony Z HDTV you have is an excellent model because I have seen it first hand.
