My TV doesn't have HDMI inputs, but it has component, so I plan to plug in my PS3 with that. However, I was reading that if you watch Blu Ray on anything other than HDMI or DVI, the video gets scaled back pretty terribly for some crappy copyright protection reasons. Is there any truth to this?
I'd hate to have just spent $700 on a PS3 plus cables and not be able to watch Blu Ray movies in all their sexy glory, just because my parents bought a TV like a year before HDMI became widespread.
Thanks!

component cables will still provide you with an excellent HD picture (provided you have an HDTV...there are TV's that have component inputs but aren't HD), so it is definitely worth buying into bluray!
i'm not terribly tech-savvy, so someone else will have to advise you on the major differences between component over hdmi. there are numerous members on here well versed in this kind of stuff, and i'm sure someone will pop in here to explain further..
