I think a lot of people who were the most disappointed are actually quite invested in the franchise.

Agreed. Most people that were disappointed with the show were book readers, some have read the books years before the show, some have read them multiple times and have been analyzing them for years. So it's funny to see a "you have no idea what you are talking about" aimed at people who have invested in the story deeply and for a long time.
