Surge suppression will help with small spikes but it will not clean the power of noise that will impact audio and video quality or prevent brownouts or power outages that could be damaging to your equipment. There's a lot of religion when talking about these components and you can drop a ton of coin into the right ones. I use the Panamax 1500-UPS and the Panamax 5500-EX mainly because it has the features I need and is at the price point I can afford. The 5500-EX allegedly regenerates the power and as a result takes a lot more power in that it outputs.

With all that said, find a conditioner that fits your budget. You will immediately notice the difference, especially in the audio. Fan = oscillating copper coil = EMI = bad. Lose the fan.
