Yes VR for movies in general is awful compared to a high-end home cinema.
But if you’re on a shoestring budget like some then I can see why they try to convince themselves (and others) that movies on VR is great.

I’m not sure what you mean by your last statement, besides coming across as an arse.
I have a 77 inch LG G6 OLED. The finest 3D tv ever made as far as I’m concerned. And it wasn’t cheap.
VR 3D movies are a suitable alternative. Especially since 3D TVs are no longer made. I’ve converted all of my 3D discs and it’s a blast.
It’s not as good as my specific best 3D tv, but it’s definitely better than many 3D TVs - 3D TVs which led to the demise of 3D because they were disappointing pieces of junk.
