People always freak out about Evan Peters when IMO it's clearly always been something just to make people lose their minds, just a red herring. It's not meant to be the FoX-Men version because he didn't say "no my name's Peter" or something and he acts like an ass and not in an endearing way like with Fox... and the stuff like needing to cause tension/trouble/grief is out of character.
Could be a THIRD version of Pietro, possibly one part of the Brotherhood and not X-Men, that Wanda accidentally pulled from another multiverse or somebody else who is messing with her has brought him to screw with her because they can't bring people back from the dead, and maybe the MCU Pietro was the only one who looked like ATJ for whatever reason (maybe because of being twins, maybe because of him not being as old, etc). So, why Evan Peters though? It's just misdirection, he was easy to get because of his Fox affiliation and they knew people would jump to conclusions.
I think at the end of this or the multiverse stuff, X-Men will be introduced in some kind of retroactive continuity event, but I just don't see them bringing in the existing franchise, they'll start over.
