So, we keep everything seperate, I moved in with her into her house, so she has continued to pay the mortgage herself. We only have the refi'd mortgage as a joint debt, everything else I have is seperate from her. This means seperate bank accounts and thus seperate money to spend. I pay for some of the mutual items (groceries, diapers, etc...) and she pays for the electric, gas, water, etc... Works out real well and I never have to tell her what I want to do or buy and neither does she, as long as we don't sacrifice any necessities or things for the kids. If all that is taken care of, and always is, i can spend whatever extra $ I have without worry....
