Heimdall missed his Wheaties one morning. Distracted by being hungry, he accidentally sends Odin to the wrong planet, where he encounters an incredibly cute, smart alligator. Odin brings him home to Asgard, then continues on to his original destination, the meeting with Laufey where he encounters young Loki... except by being late, he never meets Loki. Returns to Asgard, proceeds to spoil his new pet to the point that Frigga begins jokingly referring to the gator as his son. Odin takes this to heart, teaching the gator their ways, maybe even gifting him with a bit of magic, and naming him Loki. And that is the story of how one universe, branch, alternate, parallel, timeline,
whatever ended up with an alligator son in the House of Asgard.
