I get the vibe that this was announced early, like someone was going to report on it and their hands were forced, but it’s also possible that Disney announced it while threatening to recast Bender in hopes that DiMaggio will fall in line, or that DiMaggio leaked it to get a big surge of fan support going.
It would seem to be working in DiMaggio’s favor because the negative reaction to a revival without him is dominating discussion of the news.

I feel exactly the same way. The Futurama revival is what soured me on revivals. Because I loved the original run of Futurama. LOVED it. Still do. I think it's some of the best television that's ever been done. So obviously I wanted them to bring it back and when they did, it just wasn't anywhere near as good.
So I'm not exactly clamouring for another revival. Add to the equation Disenchantment, which is probably the worst animated sitcom I've ever seen, and I have serious doubts that the same people are capable of ever delivering a quality product ever again
