Let's see here:
The hardware is less expensive,
-Not by much; and it tends to be very flimsy *cough* Toshiba
the media is less expensive,
-No; More expensive b/c of flippers.
the burners are less expensive,
-No
the blanks are less expensive,
-No
the technology is backwards compatible with DVD (dual disks are out now),
-Blu-ray plays DVD too.
with VC-1 it looks far better than MPEG-2/4 on BR,
-Hell NO; AVC looks much better.
and most of the BR technological superiority is all hot air, and the real-world BR movies actually use LOWER specs than HD-DVD.
-No
HD-DVD is also region-free, meaning I can play imports on my US player with no hardware mods, without worrying about the region-coded BS of Blu-ray.
-Oh no, anything but region codes! DVD is even more region coded.
