240V or 120V Dryers
In Taiwan, most people hang their clothes to dry. No one, even the salesman, can give me an honest answer to my questions.
I am used to a big Maytag/Whirlpool dryer. We have been using a 7.5kg 120(110)V dryer for years. It sucks. It takes forever to dry clothes, almost 3 hours for 6 shirts on low, and 21/2 hours for 4 towels on high.
I've had enough, plan to buy a 240V Whirlpool 15kg capacity, just like Mom's. The store has it and 10kg 120V and 240V models. I have heard, for dryers (and air cons) 240V is better for your electric bill and will perform better, shorter drying times.
The salesman, who I don't really understand, or trust, says they are exactly the same. My gut tells me 240(220) and 120(110) volts are different and the machines should behave differently, TVs, stereos I'm not sure, but air cons and dryers I think so, that's what I've heard anyway.
Please help me understand. Which is better performer, and which is better for the bills?
Thanks
