I am just not liking this new Hollywood trend of making comic book movies darker suddendly. TDK make's a billion dollars and now every producers think that's what they need to do in order to cash in. Not every comic book movie will work in a darker mode, it work's well for Batman because of what he is but that style just won't work for F4 or Superman. Look at Iron Man, nothing dark like TDK yet it's great and it work because they followed the character of the comic book. They should not try to be creative with comic book movies, the characters are there, just write a good story and pick the right people to make it happen. I am not too familiar with the F4 comic book, I know them more from the 3 animated series that were done. Are they darker in the comics?
