Mind you, some of that workprint stuff is lovely (the original opening pre-Enterprise-B) even though editorially it's awkward (I think they need to do a whole new opening titles sequence if ever they made an extended cut). Other bits, if my memory doesn't cheat, explain some of the plot holes left for the finished movie as well.
I've got a massive soft spot for Generations. It was the first ST film I saw theatrically, as around that time I was just the right age to be getting into it and Sky One in the UK had TNG on repeat 5-days a week. Those were the days!

Same here. The movie is badly flawed (“they have found a way to penetrate our shields!”, yeah no shit! Just change the harmonics FFS), it’s so strange how it plays like it was written by people who’ve never seen TNG before and then you see it was written by Moore and Braga! I guess they just had too many demands on the movie from both the suits and the stars, Patrick Stewart in particular.
BUT as it was also my first cinematic Trek it will always be regarded very fondly.
