You what movie I REALLY don't get what all the fuzz is about?
2001: A Space Odyssey
I know it's this huge classic. I know Kubrick is a genius. I have no intention of descrediting such legend but no matter how many times I watch this film, I just don't get what is so wonderful. Apart from the special effects which still hold up VERY well to this day and an absolutely incredible transfer to Blu-Ray. I simply don't get what makes this film so wonderful.
If anything, I see three films in there: The Dawn of Man at the beggining, the whole HAL going haywire in the middle and alien contact at the end. The classic cut scene from the bone to the satellite? I don't see what is so great about it. The whole psychodelic "Journey" (with the one set of effects on the film that does look outdated)? Boring.
This is really frustrating for me because many, if not all of the directors, actors and technical people I admire really love and almost worship this film so I battle to understand it's significance but so far I've been drawing blanks.
Let the massacre begin.

I rented it on BD not long ago, and can never do more than the first 5
minutes before I have to move onto something else.
