The q80a is only showing me HDR in movie setting, not 10+. What am I missing in either the tv, or player?

Are you certain that the X6400H supports HDR10+? I'm not familiar with this site but a quick Google arguably confirms my first surmise:

Perhaps it does not.
Try wiring the 203 directly to the Q80 and see what displays in the upper left-hand corner of the display right after the studio logo displays. I have the 203 (and a Q70). I see confirmation of what HDR flavor I'm getting very briefly and shortly after I first get picture from a UHD BD.
My Yamaha AVR isn't HDR10+ capable but I prefer to wire all three of my BD players through it first. So I just remember that whenever I get around to
1917,
Alien,
Widows or
Hidden Figures, I have a quick re-wiring to do if I want the 10+.
