What I don't understand is why make a prequel to the prequel House of the Dragon that pretty much just got started? HotD begins about 200 years before Game of Thrones, then does about a 20 year time jump forward midway through the first season.
There are some very interesting things that happened in the Conquest of Westeros, 300 years before Game of Thrones, that I think could be awesome to see portrayed on the screen, but this just seems so silly and convoluted to do a prequel, and to then proceed to do a prequel to that prequel.
What would've made a
whole lot more sense to me is they should've just started HotD back then to begin with, maybe even a little earlier, like around the Doom of Valyria, leading to the Conquest of Westeros, eventually leading up to where we are now with HotD's first season.
I mean, it's the
same family, and it's essentially the same story, just beginning a bit earlier, and they're already incorporating huge time jumps anyway, so this would've just made perfect sense to me.
