Default Not sure whether I'm having a disc issue or a player issue

I wasn't sure where to post this so sorry if it's in the wrong forum. Today I bought Season One of Weeds for Blu-ray. I put the disc in my laptop's Blu-ray player and immediately skipped ahead to episode six because that's where I left off from Netflix. Anyways, halfway through the episode the dialog became all warped. After a couple of minutes of cleaning the disc it still showed up when I popped it back in the player. Only rewinding the scene fixed the problem.

That I didn't have much concern over. What has me concerned though is that once I was finished with all the episodes, I wanted to listen to the commentaries. I got through the first two without a problem, but when I tried to play the third one all it would do was show a blank screen. I moved the mouse over the bottom of the screen and I noticed the time was still running. I just wasn't seeing any picture or hearing anything.

So I decided to put the disc in my PS3. I cleaned it off first before putting it in and once it was finished loading it played (the first 30 seconds at least) perfectly which it could not do on my laptop. I then decided to try it again on the laptop thinking it might have been the disc and maybe I put a fingerprint smudge on it, but the commentary still won't start correctly. After a couple of minutes it skips ahead to the 8:47 mark.

So does this sound like a player issue or a disc issue? If it's a player issue, do I need a firmware update and if so, how do you download an update for a laptop? I tried updating the player but it says I'm already up to date. And every single Blu-ray (the Bond titles specifically which I knew had problems) I've played in my laptop's player has worked perfectly. What's going on?
