DRM back up replacement, security upgrade help for you in vista
I needed to wipe my hard drive on my computer as it had got really slow but i was going to lose all my DRM licenses as its not easy to save them with vista and windows media player 11 so i worked out how to copy them and put them back after wiping the drive.Ive tested it with the dark knight and the matrix and theyre up and running again.I hope you'll find this useful. Also people have problems trying to get the windows media security update to get the licenses in the first place ive solved that too.Its ridiculous that you have to do this to watch a film on your computer that youve paid for but we're stuck with it.
open windows explorer
select tools near the address bar
select folder options
select view
find where it says says hidden files and folders
select show hidden files and folders
click apply
now open windows explorer again
select my computer
select c: drive or whatever is your main drive
select program data
select microsoft
select windows
select drm
open windows explorer again
insert a memory card or flash drive
drag all the files onto there and must include the cache.
then wipe your computer
now when your computer is up and running again
google overdrive player
download it
open overdrive player
select tools on overdrive player and select windows media security upgrade and follow steps
start from beginning selecting show hidden files
get to the drm folder
the files will be there but dont hold your license info
drag the files back to the drm folder on your hard drive from the memory card or flash drive always selecting copy and replace
Now open up the cache folder on the hard drive and also open cache folder on flash drive and drag the files from cache folder on the flash drive back to the hard drive cache folder selecting copy and replace
Thats it you can watch your digital copies again!!
