It would be nice if it would go widescreen, but I don't know when or if that will ever happen.
I good buddy of mine who I grew up with moved out to California several years ago, and for the past couple/few years he has worked on American Dad (I believe he is currently in the post production department on the show... at least last I had heard).
American Dad has been in Widescreen/Hi-Def for most, if not all of it's entire run. From what I understand, while he is involved with both shows, Seth McFarlane has much more direct control over Family Guy than American Dad. And I guess he has some issues with actually transitioning from the 'traditional' TV aspect ratio over to 16:9 from what my friend has told me.
Honestly, if this new Star Wars thing isn't 16:9 and if it's not mastered to be Hi-Def, I don't really see the point in getting it on Blu-Ray. Though at the same time, I'm going to take that special with a grain of salt anyway.
While some of the jokes were funny here and there, I really don't get what the big deal was over the Blue Harvest special that they did. For the most part, it was really just an edited-down-for-time, animated remake of A New Hope. It really didn't do enough IMO to really take the subject matter and adapt it into it's own thing.
