OP, I have a couple of LCDs, but prefer Plasmas myself.... PQ should be the main concern, and the black levels of Plasmas $-to-$ can't be beat.
I'm not sure what's in russia though...... but if you were looking at a Phillips 42", I would recommend trying to find a Panasonic, Samsung, or Sony within your price range at the 42" or up size.... regardless of what technology you go with (LCD/Plasma)
That T.V. he linked is a 54", and although much above your budget, it's 12" larger than what you were looking for...... so perhaps look for that model in a smaller size
