Native 4K (2160P) DLP projectors without pixel shifting can easily cost over $200,000+ for the projector. Higher end 4K DLP projectors with 1080P light engines and quality 4K pixel shifting techniques cost over $100,000+. For those on a budget and if one only needs 2K (1080P) light engine with 31,500 ISO lumens (28,000 ANSI lumens) from a 3DLP projector, then this new flash sale from Christie Digital is a bargain. The Crimson WU31 has a flash sale and is 35% off at only $35,000. Some people are only into 2K Blu-ray discs and Blu-ray 3D. With a silver screen and other equipment the Crimson WU31 can be configured for 2K (1080P) passive glasses 3D over a single projector for only $35,000. Or in a IMAX style setup on a silver screen with passive glasses using two projectors would only cost around $70,000+ for the projectors with this flash sale (plus other equipment additional cost like silver screen, etc.). Some Christie projectors can cost over $400,000+ especially if one is looking for native 8K model.
Possible Christie is getting ready to offer only 8K and 4K projectors and are clearly out of 2K (1080P) models at bargain prices (but there appears to be some newer model 2K projectors that the company offers, so the company might offer 2K, 4K, and 8K models since some people want 2K projectors because of the lower prices. At this price it is temping to purchase two, but then 4K Blu-ray discs would be downscaled to 2K 1080P quality.
