I totally agree. There's probably a billion posts on what speakers are "best", but what really matters is what sounds best to you. If you audition speakers, I would recommend that you hear them where the setup it's similar to YOUR set up i.e same series/brand of AVR/preprocessor/amplifier setup. If you can't, then be sure that when you buy speakers that the seller has as a 30 day return/audition policy. Therefore you can try them at home and decide for yourself if you want to keep them.
I had JBL speakers for years before I went with a Klipsch setup. JBL makes some good stuff.
