I have an old Dolby ProLogic II AVR in my bedroom. It's probably 20 years old. You should know that PL2 is only 4-channel (LF, RF, Ctr, Rear). And as Steve Dave said, a PL2 AVR can't decode those 4 channels properly unless it is coded for PL2. Your best bet is to use 2-channel stereo and let the AVR synthesize the other channels as the others have said. Then start saving for that new 5.1 or 7.1-channel AVR with HDMI.
