I wasn't as impressed with it as you. Yes, I love the Coen bros, but a few of their films have fallen flat for me, including Intolerable Cruelty and The Man Who Wasn't There. One of the reasons this didn't work for me was the lead actor just wasn't convincing when delivering the complex emotions and situations he had to deal with. I couldn't make a connection to his inner world. Another was that it seemed to boil down to a cliche message that religion holds no answers.
I had high expectations for A Serious Man, and while parts of it were funny in that quirky Coen bros way, it was mostly a let down.
