I have last years Panasonic 720p Plasma...and I watch A LOT of ESPN and all the college football, NFL,NBA etc.
Burn in is a thing of the past. The new model Panasonic's are even better!
There is a thing called Image Retention (mostly mistaken as burn in)...which might be noticeable on any new plasma at the beginning...but once your TV warms up over time, it will go away. Its not even obvious to begin with.
I would highly recommend a Panasonic plasma to anyone, especially your parents, they will love you! I wanted to get a 42" X1 for the bedroom, but the wife says no.
