I have the 590IS (the older 8MP version of the newer A1100IS - 12MP), and it is no wonder this thing has won so many awards in its price range.
Excellent camera (specially for a beginner that wants to explore more later), with plenty of manual settings.
Weirdly enough, the 590IS now sells for $300 on Amazon (I guess the stock is getting low?) O.o
Paid $100 at Newegg for it last year.
