Mr. Thiel unfortunately passed away this year (RIP). Thiel is one of the most respected brands of speakers in the industry! The CS 3.7 received an extremely high rating from Stereophile magazine. The SCS can be used as a LCR speaker (a setup featuring 5 of these would be great)! The Thiel brand generally uses point source - time coherent technology by mounting the tweeter on a midrange to prevent phasing problems. The speakers go down to the respectable mid 40's hz and up to 22khz. They are very accurate and very musical. For HT applications, you will need a sub but for music they can actually stand alone. You will need a good amp with these as they are 4ohm speakers, and they like power. I would power them with a seperate amp myself

. They are heavy for a bookshelf (between I think 25 and 30 pounds) can be found on the used market from $275.00 each and up. Here's a nice set for sale on Audiogon
