I need to start researching for it's replacement. Living in Alaska rules out any kind of shipping for repairs. Not sure if I want to go for another Onkyo or not... not the best experience so far. Any advice?
My 805 has always made a loud clicking sound when switching audio. I see you have a KDS-50A2020 and PS3. I have the 60A2000 (larger, grey vs. black) and a PS3 as well, and the screen flashing happens on occasion for me too. It's independent of the Onkyo. It happened before I got the 805 and it happens if I remove it and connect the PS3 straight into the TV.

Now for the shutting off. Two things: is the area around the Onkyo properly ventilated? If not, that can cause overheating and making it shut off. Secondly, check your wires and see if anything is reversed or crossed. My 805 kept shutting off on me during the opening of Quantum of Solace and it turns out that my right rear speaker wires were touching/crossed on each other and causing the receiver to shut down.
