This may be known to many but I don't remember seeing anyone mention it here. After just over 2 years, my Samsung LN-T4053H started clicking and turning on/off multiple times before finally turning on. I researched it and found lots of other people having this problem with their TVs (multiple models, it seems to be those made 2007 and earlier). See here and here and here. The problem is faulty capacitors on the power supply board. Samsung tried to deny the problem, but they finally acknowledged it (see the cnet forum linked above) but only offered to help 50 people. I tried to fix it myself but the solder wouldn't melt easily and I ended up destroying a contact on the board. I just ordered a new board for about $100 and it only takes a screwdriver to install. That's cheaper than a TV repair service but it's still a pain to have to repair a $1500 TV after only 2 years. If I had known I was buying a disposable TV I would have gotten another brand. At least now I have all the supplies to try and fix the replacement board when it fails, unless it has different capacitors. I'll know when it arrives.

I've bought 3 Samsungs of various sizes in the past 2 years and 2 of them have had problems (google 'robot audio' to learn about the other one). Now I'm just waiting for them to fail too. Suffice it to say I'll never buy another Samsung, I don't care how good the picture is. I could rent a TV for less if they only last 2 years.
