Yes, I can confirm that
U-571 is region free just like Next and Days of Glory. I have played it in my Region A Playstation 3.
I have been thinking about ordering Gangs of New York just to check the region coding on that disc but it seams like I don't have to now. I already own Gangs of New York on DVD and I don't want to double dip on too many discs.
I own both a region A and a Region B PS3 but plays almost all my movies on the region A PS3.
