Did not read the article but just a bit of facts
1) yes it is backwards compatible with 2D but not sure if older players might need a FW
2) it is still only rumoured that the PS3 will do 3D, one of the issues (if it is real 3D) is that HDMI 1.3 or Composite or component where not build for dual video streaming
3)there is almost no chance that BD-100 will ever be used for movies
4) no it is not 2x the space (or BW). It does not have 2 complete streams it is only the difference between the two that is encoded for the second stream
