The broadcast format 1080i or 720p, is not the same as the original format, which on most major US shows is either 24fps film (16mm or 35mm) or 1080p cameras. Live or low budget programming is usually recorded in 1080i or 720p, and if released would be released in 1080i or 720p - these programs are generally sports, news programs, soap operas, local productions, etc. and are not very likely to be released on BD.
If the BBC recorded this series at 1080i50, which is very likely, then it is best delivered at 1080i50. Technically it could be deinterlaced and corrected for 1080p24, but there would be a significant loss of video quality.
