I realize it's a little late, but the wholes in your floor make me cringe. You mentioned a basement, I'm guessing it's unfinished, at least the part under this room? Are the walls where the rear speakers will go out-side walls? I'd love to know so we can offer help in saving your hardwood floors!! Even if they're inside walls.
